Protect your Google Gsuite Accounts with 2-Step Verification
Firstly, if you haven’t already done so, I advise that you enable an extra layer of protection to your Google accounts by adding a 2-Step Verification.
This is a kind of two-factor authentication system to secure your online accounts using something only you know (a password) and something only you have (a one-off code or token).
How it works
Once set up, the first time you log in or whenever you log in from a new/different computer, you will need to do the following:
1. Log in using your email address and password as normal
2. As instructed on screen, enter the one-time SMS code that has been sent to your designated smartphone. (If you don’t have a smartphone, backup codes can be printed and saved in a secure location.)
You won’t have to do this every time you log in – only the first time and if you are using a different computer to normal.
It may seem like another annoying step to logging into your Google account but it is a good way of protecting your email, documents, photos and contacts from potential hackers.
Put simply, it means that even if a criminal does somehow get hold of your email address and password, they can’t access your account because they don’t have the SMS code.
It’s a simple process to enable through Google’s instructions, but please contact us if you need any help.
